What to Wear to Your Family Photoshoot with Golden Sundays Photography

Gold Coast Photographer

Hey there, lovely families! So, you've booked a family photoshoot with me, and now you're staring at your closets, wondering what on earth everyone should wear. Don't worry, I've got you covered! Here are some fab tips to help you nail those outfits and make your photoshoot a breeze.

1. Coordinate, Don’t Match!

Gone are the days of everyone wearing the same white shirt and blue jeans. Instead, think about coordinating colors that complement each other. Pick a color palette with 2-3 colors and mix and match. Earthy tones, pastels, and soft neutrals work beautifully!

2. Comfort is Key

You want to look great, but you also want to feel great! Choose outfits that are comfortable and make you feel like a million bucks. If your little ones are comfy, they’ll be happier and more relaxed during the shoot, which means better photos!

3. Avoid Loud Patterns

While a fun pattern can add personality, too many bold prints can be distracting. If you want to include patterns, stick to one or two family members and keep the rest in solid colors. Subtle textures like lace or knit can add depth without being overpowering.

4. Think About Your Location

Where are we shooting? If we're at the beach, think flowy dresses and rolled-up chinos. In a park, casual chic is the way to go. Dress appropriately for the setting to ensure your photos have a natural and cohesive look.

5. Accessorise Wisely

Accessories can add a touch of personality to your outfits. Think hats, scarves, and layered jewelry. But remember, less is more. You want the focus to be on your lovely faces and the connections between you, not on a giant statement necklace.

6. Barefoot or Not?

This one’s totally up to you! Bare feet can look super sweet and natural, especially for beach or at-home shoots.

7. Lay it All Out

Before the shoot, lay everyone’s outfits out together to see how they look as a whole. This can help you see if the colors and styles are working together. If something feels off, swap it out!

8. Seasonal Considerations

Think about the season and choose outfits accordingly. Light, breathable fabrics for summer, and cozy layers for winter. Also, consider the time of day for your shoot. Golden hour (just before sunset) gives off a gorgeous warm light that complements soft, warm tones.

9. Avoid Logos and Graphics

Keep it classic and timeless by avoiding clothes with logos, characters, or large graphics. They can be distracting and take away from the natural vibe of the photos.

10. Be Yourself!

The most important thing is that you feel like yourselves. Your family’s personality should shine through, so wear what makes you happy and comfortable. When you feel good, it shows in the photos!

I can’t wait to capture your beautiful family moments. If you have any questions or need more tips, just shoot me a message. Let’s make some magic together!
